The opening round of AAHS March Madness kicked off with a bang! In the Eldorado region, top seed Mr. McKinney opened with a strong showing, and he will face 8-seed Mr. Prugar, who turned in an impressive victory of his own from the BIC room. 5-seed Will Sankey became the first of the Class of 2025 “Young Bucks” contingent to reach the Round of 32, and 3-seed Mr. Elvey ensured that the “Nature Boy” would battle again.
Down in the Juniata Region, Mr. Marasco pushed 1-seeds to 2-0 on the day, winning the marquee matchup of Marascos. He will face Mr. Wynn, who survived a harrowing round 1 engagement. The Phys Ed mini region sorted itself out with favored seeds Mr. D’Angelo and Mr. Picciotti advancing for a spicy 4-5 matchup in the Round of 32. It’s all chalk so far in March Madness, but you know that means the upsets are coming. Vote early today!
Attention Astronomy Club and FLC: There will be a brief meeting this Thursday in the Planetarium from 2:50 p.m. – 3:20 p.m. Permission slips will be handed out for our large Pittsburgh field trip to end the school year on a high note. Any students unable to make it due to Drama Club or other engagements may pick up permission slips outside of the Planetarium beginning Friday. Hope to see you there!
BioBlitz students – Field trip forms for BioBlitz are due to Mrs. Condo in A317 before the end of the school day Thursday, March 27 for the BioBlitz trip on April 2.
The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center will be hosting an Adult Education Open House on Wednesday April 9, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. It is free to attend and registration is not required. This would be a great time for students that may be interested in attending a post-secondary program at the GACTC to stop by to see the facility, talk to instructors, and talk to our financial aid officer.

Seniors: The AfterGlo Gardners Candies Easter Sale fundraiser will end THIS Friday, March 28. Your orders and monies are due to Mrs. Irwin (Room A334) or Miss McKee (B127) by 2 p.m. on Friday. This order will be delivered on April 16.

Attention Seniors looking for scholarships: Please stop by the literature rack outside of the Guidance Office and pick up Thee Devon Pfirsching Scholarship Application. To be considered for this scholarship, you must participate in a sport and/or club activity and have an acceptance letter from a post-secondary educational institution. There are only a few days until the April 3 deadline!
